Working in healthcare, I spent years constantly in “go mode.”
Juggling responsibilities and always trying to push through eventually caught up with me. I didn’t realise how much stress was affecting my body until I started experiencing fatigue, overwhelm, poor sleep, tension, and feeling mentally switched on all the time.
One of the biggest things I’ve learned is this:
Stress management isn’t always about doing something massive.
Sometimes it’s the small things we consistently come back to that help the most.
Here are a few things that genuinely help me reset and feel more grounded:

Journaling helps slow my thoughts down and clear mental clutter. It gives me space to reflect instead of carrying everything in my mind all day.
Music helps me switch gears mentally. Depending on the day, it can help me focus, calm down, or recharge emotionally.
Movement has become one of the biggest tools for my mental health. The gym helps me release built-up stress and feel more present in my body again.
Spending time outdoors helps me step away from constant stimulation and reconnect with stillness, breathing, and perspective.
Sometimes nervous system recovery looks simple. Quiet moments with my greyhound genuinely help calm my body and slow me down.
One of the biggest mindset shifts for me was understanding that rest is not laziness.
Recovery is productive too.
Now, I try to be more intentional about creating a lifestyle that feels sustainable, not exhausting.
At Thrive Chiropractic & Wellness, we often remind patients:
Your body isn’t working against you.
It’s asking for support.
